Many farmers in North Gujarat have taken initiative to cultivate the variety of pomegranate acceptable in the international market. Banaskantha Agro Processing & Production Producer Co. Pvt. Ltd., Palanpur is one of the leading producer companies of the farmers. The farmers of this organization have undertaken cultivation of Red pomegranate in their farms. More than 5 lacs saplings have been planted, out of which, 80,000 pomegranate plants are expected to produce exportable variety of pomegranate.

The requirements of the standards include record keeping, varieties of root stocks, site history and site management, soil and substrate management, fertilizer usage, irrigation, crop protection, harvesting, post harvest treatments, pollution management, workers welfare, environmental issues, complaint form, internal audit.
