Gujarat is one of the largest producers and exporters of Kesar & Alphanso mango. The production of mango in Gujarat has reached to 7,72,134 M.T. in 2005-06. South Gujarat, Saurashtra & Kutch, these 3 clusters are major producing centres of mango in Gujarat. Govt. of India has notified Agricultural Export Zones for mango and vegetables in South & Central Gujarat. The proposal is already submitted to APEDA to include area of Saurashtra & Kutch in the existing Agricultural Export Zones for mango & vegetables
Many farmers in North Gujarat have taken initiative to cultivate the variety of pomegranate acceptable in the international market. Banaskantha Agro Processing & Production Producer Co. Pvt. Ltd., Palanpur is one of the leading producer companies of the farmers. The farmers of this organization have undertaken cultivation of Red pomegranate in their farms. More than 5 lacs saplings have been planted, out of which, 80,000 pomegranate plants are expected to produce exportable variety of pomegranate.

These standards are known as EUREPGAP which can provide a structured framework for starting movement for improving our agricultural practices. The requirements of the standards include record keeping, varieties of root stocks, site history and site management, soil and substrate management, fertilizer usage, irrigation, crop protection, harvesting, post harvest treatments, pollution management, workers welfare, environmental issues, complaint form, internal audit.
